Chris Whiteside a écrit :

Changes Coming to the NPE

Gaile Gray a écrit :

The devs have been reviewing your feedback on the New Player Experience. While some bug fixes have already been made, the team will be making other updates in the future to address:
       • Plot holes and story inconsistencies that may have been introduced with story realignment
       • Replacing the missing profession mechanics UI for the Ranger and Mesmer professions
       • Investigating issues that prevent players from retaining some skills (heal, utility, and elite) that they had previously unlocked
       • Addressing an issue with bundles that prematurely unlocked utility and elite skills

Other aspects of the NPE are being examined, and your constructive feedback is welcome and appreciated.

Source : https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/g … to-the-NPE

Chris Whiteside a écrit :

Note we want to make the fixes and then have a focused discussion about the system (Probably here)
We really want to hear what you think once the system/content is functioning as designed.
Chris

Gaile Gray a écrit :

agree with you about this. I think it’s premature to gauge how NPE will play at the current time, because we do know changes are coming.
And yes, you do see some forum members making the same points again and again. That truly is not helpful to the review and discussion, in that the devs would prefer a focused, clear, concise statement rather than realizing “Wait, it’s that same person, saying the same thing for the 19th time.” wink

Gaile Gray a écrit :

We are not able to restore guild banks for a variety of reasons, as confirmed by the final line of the document linked above.
Source : https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/s … ost3758739

GM Aurora a écrit :

Hey everyone!

I’m GM Aurora and I’m here to give a brief overview about guild banks and the challenges they present from a customer support point of view. I won’t go into too much detail about our internal policies, but you should have a fair grasp about this topic after reading my post.

Guild banks are quite problematic for our team (even more so after the recent guild chapter merge). The biggest reason is that guild bank restorations could have a potentially huge economic impact. Imagine there are a number of highly valuable items in a bank, they get stolen, and we then restore the bank. Those items are now being duplicated and the economy takes a plunge because of it. Doing it once may not be very critical, but doing it over and over will have adverse effects on the prices of goods in the trading post, currency exchange, and so on.

So, with that said, how can you make your guild bank more secure? There are several things you can do. For starters, avoid putting items into the bank that are highly valuable. The other obvious thing to do is to not invite players into the guild that you don’t know or feel comfortable with. Now, this is all easier said than done and I understand and empathize with all of you, but it will minimize the potential to lose valuable items. The one thing that is often overlooked and that is probably the most important step to securing the guild bank is that guild leaders can set the rank permissions so that not everyone can take items out of the guild bank. This prevents a lot of misuse of the guild bank and will also make sure that items are safe until needed for guild events, guild missions or any other purpose you have in mind for them. And even if you’re not a guild leader or officer, you can help keep your bank secure by keeping your account secure! See this Knowledge Base article for more tips on account security.

Finally, all this is subject to change at any time because we are always working on improving the resources that are available to us. I’m not going to say that we will never restore guild banks, nor will I promise that we’ll be able to do it in the future, but I hope this post helps everyone to understand a little bit why we are currently not restoring guild banks.

Michael Henninger a écrit :

Most of you know that Gaile has moved from Customer Support to a new (and very awesome) role over at the Community team. She’s still nearby so I think I can still hit her with my trebuchet – I’ll report results soon.

What this means, simply, is that she won’t be handling CS tickets anymore.
/cry, go ahead. I’ll give you a moment.

That does not mean you’re losing her. She’ll be very active on the forums and involved directly with the direction our communication with you heads. I will happily answer your questions if you have any.

Hey all,

I wanted to post in this thread to let you know that I’ve accepted a new position at ArenaNet, and I will no longer be your point of contact for this thread or the Account Issues Forum in general.

I will still be very active in the forums as a whole — that’s for sure! However, a Customer Support Team member will be helping you in this sub-forum and a Technical Support rep will help over in Tech Support. They’re all great, so you’ll be in terrific hands in the future!

Thanks for all the good times and the positive help so many of you have given me here! favorite

Michael Henninger a écrit :

Hi guys!

I wanted to give you a quick rundown on what involvement Customer Support takes regarding defrauding/scamming. Let’s look at the two parts of this:

1. We do not reimburse wealth lost to other players for any reason if it is outside of the Black Lion Trading Post. This is because Customer Support can not duplicate wealth. With the volume of requests coming in we alone would damage the economy if we were to restore wealth lost when trading takes place.

2. We terminate accounts permanently for defrauding (scamming). If you are found to make a deal to trade (say, sword for gold) and not hold up your end we will investigate and terminate. If you are the victim of a scam you should submit a support ticket and provide what you lost and the time and date as accurately as you recall. This is usually all we need to research the event but we will ask you if we need more info. You do have a right to know the outcome of these investigations but be aware these take us a few days to resolve.

Please be sure to include the full details of your trade via game chat (any channel is fine) in Guild Wars 2
We absolutely must be able to see the deal being made to find guilt. Do not use voice chat software or other means to communicate while making a sale/trade.

Again; this will help us terminate accounts that are cheating other players but will not result in a recovery of your losses.

Please understand that you are allowed to trade outside of the BLTP – but you will not receive replacements for lost items or gold. The same goes for selling dungeon runs. CS will not suspend or terminate you for selling runs. We will, however, take action if you take payment and not fulfill your end of the bargain.

I’ll watch this thread for questions and clarify where needed. Thanks!

Chris Cleary a écrit :

Dungeon selling is not something that will be officially supported. Listing a group on the LFG tool is opening it up to a public realm and you do so at your own risk.
Customer Service will not be able to support any interactions that involves group formation politics.
Source : https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/g … ired/first

Chris Cleary a écrit :

I’ll go ahead and clarify since there has apparently been different information coming from different sources in the past. Customer Service is not able to support party politics unless they involve cases of targeted harassment in-game. This is because of the number of different reasons that certain party politics happen. Since CS only has access to actions that occur in-game, we are unable to verify specifics for incidents in a large number of incidents. Specifics are the most important part of these situations.

However, we do view player reports via CS tickets, and if a player can be verified as a habitual abuser of the LFG system or parties in general, we can take action against them.

Michael Henninger a écrit :

Now, in regards to getting booted -

It is not allowed and we will take action against accounts we find doing this. This is monitored in-game but if you are able to report please do so as thousands of eyes are better than a team of GMs.

The fact that there are people doing this simply sucks and needs to be corrected and I want to assure you that my team actively takes issues like these to production to raise awareness (as do other devs that frequent the forums). I have been approached by multiple leads on ways to correct and curb this behavior and the conversation is happening.

Source : https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/g … red/page/5

Michael Henninger a écrit :

#1 & #2
1st offense would be suspension.
2nd time would be bye-bye.
– #3
It wouldn’t matter outside of doing bad things. A seller being involved is irrelevant to the outcome of our investigation.

Also – any time an account has multiple notes for being a ‘bad seed’ we take those other things into account and make decisions on a case by case basis. That’s why you hear us spout that phrase so often.

Edit for formatting.

Michael Henninger a écrit :

The in-game tool is immediate whereas tickets take time. Go with the in-game report every time. It basically calls a GM to the location. You can’t see ‘em; but they’re there.

Regina Buenaobra a écrit :

A New Role at ArenaNet: Content Marketing

I’m pleased to announce that I have accepted a new position at ArenaNet as the Content Marketing Team Lead.

What does content marketing involve? Content marketing is about creating and curating engaging and relevant content for our fans. This can be achieved through social media channels like Twitter and Tumblr, live broadcasts on Twitch, live events/conventions, the website, and more.

While the title is new, I’ve been in the business of social media and community-focused content marketing at ArenaNet for years. When I started working at ArenaNet in 2008, one of my desires was to bring its fan-facing presence into the modern era of community engagement. I wanted to get ArenaNet involved in the conversations about Guild Wars 2 happening in rapidly growing, emerging social media spaces. I made business cases for and launched ArenaNet’s Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube channels for the studio and for Guild Wars 2. Since then, I have helped drive strategy for the company’s subsequent forays into social media. Our Global Community Team, located both in the US and Europe, has accomplished a lot through hard work and creativity. Through social media, we have reached beyond the core fans that traditional, first-party forum-based, old school community management was concerned with, to include fans further afield. Communities have and will always exist outside official forums, and videogame community management as a profession has been expanding its area of practice and interest to the world outside the first-party forum. From that perspective, social media and content marketing are expansions of the community management discipline.

Among my favorite personal milestones in community-focused content marketing includes building, from the ground up and through daily engagement with fans, the community on the Guild Wars 2 Facebook page. I guided its early growth and developed its cultural atmosphere, and I helped shape one of the most friendly Facebook communities for a videogame out there. Years later, our Facebook community is over 1 million fans strong, with loads of active, engaged, and welcoming members. I fondly remember meeting some of them at conventions, discussing the group and how we could make it better. I introduced them to developers so they could give feedback about the game directly to those working on it. Creating these connections with our community is part of what community management, social media, and community-focused content marketing are all about.

Another favorite milestone is developing the strategy for and spearheading the launch of the Guild Wars 2 Tumblr site, one of the best places to find Guild Wars 2 fan-created works. As a long time Tumblr user (since 2007), I was thrilled to bring Guild Wars 2 to a social platform that has experienced tremendous growth as a home for all sorts of fandom communities, including Guild Wars 2. Launched this year, our Tumblr site is a hub for showcasing the amazing talent and imagination of our fans and it enables them to connect with Guild Wars 2 through a shared passion manifested in creative works. I manage our Tumblr site day-to-day, and I’m constantly amazed at how creative our community is.

Because my new role is more of a strategic one, and one that is focused on social media and our other content marketing channels, I’ll be less active on the official forums. My team will be keeping up the great work we’ve been doing in social media and our livestreams and I look forward to the challenges and projects that lay ahead for us.

Gaile Gray a écrit :

Nope. You can rest assured, if 100 players report Fred, but Fred’s not doing anything wrong, he’s going to be just fine. The 100 false reporters? Not so fine, if they start abusing the report system. (And we may not use the exact message as expressed above, but that’s pretty much how it works. )

That bit that someone said in the OP’s screenshot about “1,000 posts and the player is auto-banned” is ridiculously untrue. What category do you think these people are choosing? Here are the categories:

  • Botting

  • Inappropriate Character Name

  • Spamming

  • Verbal Abuse

  • Scamming

  • Selling Gold

  • LFG System Abuse.

I will check with CS to see if there’s a trend of false reporting, and ask them if they may want to increase tracking reporting players to check for signs of abuse.

Thanks for this discussion. It’s good to be able to set the record straight.

EDIT: We’ve removed the hosted image, as it contained the names of players and forum policy prohibits “naming and shaming” in posts or in screenshots.

Gaile Gray a écrit :

Lots of posts, but I’m sure this thread has served its purpose and was answered back months… well, ok, days ago. wink

Do mass reports work? No.
Could someone get suspended for fake reports? Yes.
Could a group get nabbed for intentional griefing through false reports? Yes.
Do you guarantee you’ll nab each and every person or group submitting a false or mob report? Probably not.

Bottom line: Report reasonable, play reasonably, and all is well.

Gaile Gray a écrit :

According to Colin Johanson, Guild Wars 2 Game Director, Super Adventure Box will be back in the future. We don’t have a timeframe for the return of the SAB, but we will be bringing back this popular content.

I know you would like more details, more info, a date, etc., but that’s not available right now. I hope the above comment reassures you, though, because at the core, the important answer is that yes, SAB will be back in the future.

John Corpening a écrit :

Hey All,

I wanted to ask you to join me in saying farewell and wishing Jonathan “Chap” Sharp the best in his new adventures. After eight years of life in Tyria, Chap has decided it is time to pursue some new dreams with his many talents. Chap has been a driving force on our team, in the community and part of our family at ArenaNet and he will be sorely missed. I have worked side by side with Chap for many years now. He is like a brother to me and as much as I know how deeply he cares about GW2 I’m happy that he is taking this opportunity to take on new challenges.

Hugh Norfolk will be filling Chap’s role on the PvP team. Many of you already know Hugh from his involvement in the community, on Ready Up and in the game. As we say good bye to Chap, please also join me in extending a warm welcome to Hugh. He’s got some big shoes to fill but Hugh is full of fire and ready to roll so I know he is up for it.

Good Luck Chap!
John

Hey all.

I’m sad to say that I’ll be leaving ArenaNet after 8 years with the company, and it’s been an amazing ride!

I’ve chatted with many of you on vent, we’ve debated on State of the game, we’ve tossed ideas back and forth on the forums, and I’ve met many of you in person at various cons!

It has been my privilege, pleasure and honor to work with such a passionate and intelligent group of fans. You guys have always kept me honest, you’ve pushed me to better myself, and your ideas have helped to create GW2’s success – we couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you for your love, passion and communication.

I will always look back on my time here with love and gratitude, and much of that is owed to you, our wonderful fans.

-Chap

Leah Hoyer a écrit :

Hi folks! Now that I’ve settled in a bit at ANet, I wanted to check in again on this thread. The first Living World episode that I was involved in, “Echoes of the Past,” has now been live for a few days. We’ve all been really pleased that people seem to be enjoying the story and content a lot. But I’d love to ask you all for more specifics. What were your favorite narrative moments? What did you like about the content? About the way it was told? And of course, I want to hear what you think we can still do better on.

Thanks in advance to everyone for their comments. I’m very excited to be part of such a great game, and to work with such an excellent team of creative people.

Gaile Gray a écrit :

Because they do not give a player a gameplay advantage, Customer Support does not intend to take action on people who play instruments using macros. We don’t recommend any. We don’t support them. If a macro causes your refrigerator to explode, we’re not going to get involved. But they are not against the rules, because the rules pertain to gameplay advantages, such as faster kills or more effective defense.

Source : https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/g … ost4546267

Cody Crichton a écrit :

Hello instrument fans. I’m here to chime in on what it means to perform instruments given Customer Service’s stance which Gaile was kind enough to investigate and share in this thread.

First, I’m aware that many players feel very strongly that we should either be for or against allowing players to use automation to play their instruments. Personally, I think that instruments are simply for making music, for entertainment. Some people will gravitate toward live performance, and some will gravitate toward automation, and these are both options for personal preference. The desired end result is that players are given an opportunity to have fun, whether it’s with the process of making music or with listening to others make music, or both.

While it may go without saying, I’ll say it anyway: Players who have the dedication, the skill, and the patience to be able to perform songs manually given the constraints of the instrument system, they are to be commended for their efforts—especially when it comes to performing manually as a group/ensemble. I personally don’t think the system is as easy or intuitive as it could be, and those who make it look easy, they’re real champs who deserve copious amounts of praise.

For some, the barrier between having an instrument and making music is overly daunting, and there are other methods out there to simply play a song. I think it’s generally a good thing to have more music in Tyria for people—performers and listeners alike—to enjoy, by whichever means is most desirable to the performer.

Feel free to join the discussion with your thoughts, I’m sure you’ve got ‘em!

Mark Katzbach a écrit :

Using autohotkey for playing instruments

Unless you are pressing one physical key per each individual action, it is not permitted. Anything that presses multiple buttons per single user button-press or key-press is not allowed.
Source : https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/g … ost4063918

Mark Katzbach a écrit :

Unless you are pressing one physical key per each individual action, it is not permitted.

CC Charles a écrit :

GM Talon a écrit :

A bunch of names that are from the original Guild Wars and its lore were censored yesterday. They were names that we had believed were already in the filter, but we discovered that they were not. More of these will be happening in the coming days. Hope that clears it up for you.
Source : https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/s … ost4559026

GM Talon a écrit :

The primary reason behind this is to eliminate the potential for impersonation of these characters and/or an ArenaNet employee. Some of the more pronounced character names were already in our naming filter for this reason (such as Ogden, Kormir, Vizier Khilbron, etc.), but other character names that we thought were in the filter actually were not. This action was set in motion to create that consistency across all prominent NPCs from both Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2.

  • Exploits-bug du jeu => Adresse email

Michael Henninger a écrit :

All of us (GMs) have character names starting with GM (GM Proheals, for example). We are online 24/7 and responding to reports sent by you via the in-game reporting system. 98% of the time we’re invisible clearing bots and the like.

To remove someone using hacks (teleports, speed, etc) we have to witness the act in game so you must use the in-game reporting tool. The only exception is if you can point us to chat where the player cheating has said they are using a 3rd party program.

Hope this helps, I’ll check in later for questions.

Mark Katzbach a écrit :

The exploits address is for reporting exploits so the team can gather data and work towards a solution to close the exploit. The exploits address is not monitored by Customer Support. CS monitors the in-game reports and tickets opened on the customer support page.

John Smith a écrit :

I cannot speak on the specifics, but I will say that it’s not really a thing anymore. In the last hour 26 people hit DR. Virtually nobody ever hits DR.
Source : https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/g … ost4567605

John Smith a écrit :

Dr Note, with the exception of the halloween item that farmed very hard, there’s virtually no DR.

John Smith a écrit :
Allisa Wonderland.8192 a écrit :

[...] 1) Do you keep a history of when people hit DR?
2) Would you do a blind study where you compare the log of when a player hits DR with their manually tracked log of when they think they hit DR? (that is, without ever revealing the data to the end user, or having a juicy NDA in place, etc etc.)

1. Yes
2. Already done.

Gaile Gray a écrit :

I inquired about these concerns, and our narrative director shared the following:

Thank you so much for your comments. We realize that the changes that were made have impacted the personal story, and we are working to fix this. This requires a good deal of resources, so we do not have a set date for when these fixes will be implemented. We appreciate your patience and will update with more information as it becomes available.

PeterFries a écrit :

Content patches might feel a bit short and the pacing is too slow with too many breaks – both upcoming and the one back before November, but other than that I’ve really enjoyed LS2 compared to LS1.

Gaile Gray a écrit :

Policy on the LFG Tool

The LFG (Looking for Group) Tool is intended to be used to help put together a group to enjoy game content, such as Open World, Fractals of the Mists, or PvP. Over the last several weeks players have expressed increased concern about abuse of the LFG Tool as a growing number of individuals have begun using the LFG Tool to advertise the sale of in-game items.

Clearly, if a group-formation tool is flooded with item sales and trade messages, it will be difficult for players to use it for its intended purpose. Beyond that, trades and sales initiated in the tool are at high risk for scams. While our Customer Support Team will take action on the accounts of players who engage in scams and other disallowed activities, they generally will not be able to replace items of players who fall victim to these unscrupulous individuals.

Our policy: Players may use the LFG Tool only for the formation of a group.

Players may use the tool to sell a spot in a group, but they may not use it to sell or trade items or for any other unintended purposes. Doing so will result in an account infraction.

You can help us reduce the spam and refocus the tool by reporting individuals who are misusing the LFG Tool. Simply click on the name of that player in your chat window, right click, choose “Report,” and then choose “LFG System Abuse.” With your help we’ll be able to keep the LFG Tool clear for your use in forming groups.
